Your privacy

Snow Day Radar is built for students, parents, teachers and staff. It works without knowing who you are, and we keep it that way on purpose.

Last updated November 8, 2026

The short version

  • You don't need an account, and there's no way to make one.
  • We never ask students for their name or anything about them. Free alerts take an email from a parent, staff member or student 13 or older; younger students need a parent.
  • "Use my location" stays on your device. We never see where you are.
  • No ads that follow you, no trackers, no cookies watching you. We never sell anything about anyone.

1. Who we are

Snow Day Radar is made by Hall Enterprises, LLC, a Kentucky company and the team behind Ryan Hall, Y'all. Questions about privacy go to info@ryanhallyall.com.

2. What we collect, feature by feature

Checking odds. Looking up a district, reading its odds, and using the map need nothing from you. What you type in the search box stays in your browser: the site downloads the full list of districts and searches it on your device.

"Use my location" and "Find my district." Your browser asks first. If you say yes, your location is used on your device to find the district under you on the map. It is never sent to us and never saved. You can say no and search instead, or turn location off any time in your browser's settings.

Sharing. Share buttons open your own device's share menu. We don't see who you share with. Share pictures are made from the district and the day, nothing about you.

The free classroom kit. Download it without signing up. Students fill in the worksheets on paper, and nothing they write ever comes back to us.

The educator survey (adults only). Teachers, staff and school leaders can tell us what they'd use. We keep what you choose to answer: your role, state, school or district name, grades and subjects, the options you pick and any note. Your email only if you type it in, and whether you want updates. We don't record your IP address with your answers. We use the answers to decide what to build for schools, and your email only for Snow Day Science and Snow Day Radar for schools, and only if you asked. Students: please don't fill it out. If a student does, we delete it when we see it.

Free alerts. Parents, teachers and staff, and students 13 or older can sign up. We keep your email address, the districts you pick (up to three), your choices (your odds line and whether you want announcement emails), who's signing up (parent, staff or student 13 or older), and when you signed up and confirmed. We don't record your IP address with it. Nothing starts until you tap the link in our confirm email. We use your address only to send the alerts you chose, and our emails don't track whether you open them or what you click. A student who picks "12 or younger" is asked to have a parent sign up, and nothing is sent to us.

Bot check on the two forms. The alerts sign-up and the educator survey run Vercel's bot check, so nobody can use them to flood strangers with email. It looks at technical signals from your browser only to tell a person from a bot, and only on those two pages; it isn't used to track you or show you ads.

Technical basics. Like every website, the company that hosts ours records basic details of each visit: the IP address, the type of browser and device, the page asked for, and the time. They're used to deliver the site, keep it secure and fix problems, kept for a short time, and never used to build a profile of you or to show you ads.

3. What we never do

  • Sell, rent or trade information about anyone.
  • Show ads based on who you are or what you do online. If a sponsor ever appears on Snow Day Radar, everyone sees the same thing and it doesn't track you.
  • Use analytics or advertising tools, tracking pixels, or cookies that follow you around the web.
  • Ask students 12 and under for anything at all, or let anyone make an account or post anything.

4. Kids under 13

Snow Day Radar is made for students as young as third grade, so it's built to work without collecting personal information from children. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13: the alerts form sends younger students to a parent before anything is collected. If you think a child has sent us information, for example by filling out the educator survey or signing up for alerts, email info@ryanhallyall.com and we'll delete it.

5. Who helps us run the site

Three service providers handle data for us, only to run Snow Day Radar: Vercel hosts the website, Cloudflare stores our forecast files, survey answers and alert sign-ups in private storage, and Resend delivers our emails. We may also share information if the law requires it. That's the whole list.

6. How long we keep things

  • Educator survey answers: up to two years, then deleted.
  • Alert sign-ups: until you stop them. Stopping deletes your email address.
  • Alert sign-ups never confirmed: 7 days, then deleted.
  • Your email for survey updates: until you ask us to stop.
  • The host's visit records: a short time, then deleted.

7. Your choices

Email info@ryanhallyall.com to see, correct or delete anything you sent us, or to stop getting emails. Every alert email also has a link to change or stop your alerts in one tap. Parents can ask the same for their child. We'll answer within 30 days.

8. Keeping it safe

The site only loads over an encrypted connection. Survey answers and alert sign-ups sit in private storage that only our team can open. The links in alert emails are signed, so they only work for the address they were sent to.

9. For schools

Snow Day Radar and the classroom kit don't receive student records from schools and don't collect information about students. Teachers can use them in class without signing students up for anything.

10. Changes

When something changes, we'll update this page and the date at the top before the change takes effect. If it affects people who gave us an email, we'll email them too.
